Each piece of x cut camphor is sourced from a timber mill & looks pretty weathered by the time it comes home with us.
We prepare the timber by manually chipping off the bark around the outsides & then machine flattening it so we can see the natural features / cracks in the piece.
Any imperfections are filled with a resin – we use different colours all the time. Each side requires at least 3 days to cure, then it’s sanded down for checking, some boards require a 2nd resin for small areas & then, another 3 days to cure.
Once we’re happy that any cracks & crevices are covered it’s off for the final sanding – 5 levels – & the board is silky smooth.
2 coats of a food safe, highly durable finishing oil – Rubimonocoate – & another 3 days to dry & the board is finally finished.
Then again, who said the board HAS to be for food?

You definitely realize how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people should look at this and understand this side of the story. I was surprised that youre not more popular since you surely possess the gift.
